What age range is the Fajr Knights Challenge for?
It is for anyone aged from 7 up to and including the age of 15 insha’Allah, although masajid can choose to extend this range.
How do I sign up?
To join our challenges, your local masjid will need to sign up on our Registration page. If they have not done so already, please do inform them and request they take part!
How do I know if my masjid has signed up?
Check out the list of participating masajid on our website, or alternatively, speak to your local masjid and enquire.
I am an administrator of a masjid and have registered my masjid, what now?
You will receive an event pack for the upcoming challenge via email, which contains templates, promotional material and guidelines.
If I register once, will I keep receiving new event packs each time there is a new challenge?
No, you will need to register for each challenge separately. This is so that we can maintain up to date records on who is participating in each challenge, and also provide any new templates. We will announce the new challenges in advance by email.
Who funds the prizes?
This is the responsibility of each participating masjid; we provide suggested prizes in our guidelines, but it is up to the discretion of each masjid and according to their budget.
What is the purpose of these challenges?
We hope to see a generation of youth, along with their fathers, become regular attendees at their local masjid, praying not just Fajr in congregation, but all salawat where possible.
Secondly, we hope to see masajid working together towards this simple, yet noble aim of bringing youth to the masjid.
What are the different challenges?
We aim to facilitate Fajr Knights challenges during the main school holidays - particularly in July/August, and December - with challenges lasting either 2 weeks, 30 days or even more!
Are you affiliated to any particular masjid?
The project is not affiliated with any particular masjid. The team behind this project is a group of individuals who have benefited from such challenges locally (Masjid al-Ansar in Goodmayes, and the West London Islamic Cultural Centre in Fulham) and wish to see this concept expanded to a coordinated national (and even global) level, not dissimilar to “Visit my Mosque Day” or “BIMA Lifesavers”.
Isn't this just paying children to attend the masjid!?
Not at all; whilst we recommend a prize to incentivise youth to take part (much like Qur'an competitions), this is only a small & optional element of the challenge.
Rather, the aim is to create an enjoyable and memorable experience for the youth; bringing them to the masjid, delivering beneficial reminders and holding fun activities, helping them create friendships with like-minded youth, and aiming for the youth to build a lasting relationship with their local masjid.
Will you host events in the future?
We hope to get the opportunity to host get-togethers for all of our Fajr Knights in the future insha’Allah.
It is for anyone aged from 7 up to and including the age of 15 insha’Allah, although masajid can choose to extend this range.
